With a grant from World Connect, youth softball and soccer teams in Las Pozas, El Salvador were supplied with uniforms and more than 64 kids in the town were able to participate in organized youth soccer and the very first youth soccer tournament in their community. Through their participation, the children learned valuable leadership skills, gained greater self-confidence, and learned how to work on a team. The program also created a sense of community pride and participation. The community has become highly involved in supporting the teams. Every weekend fans come out to see the teams play. Community members sell refreshments at the games and bond with the teams. As a result of this World Connect project, there is a positive sense of pride developing in the community.Explore other Projects
