Healthy Homes Project - Cusicancha
Project Launch:
Quisuarpampa, Rumichaca, and Tambo are rural communities in the mountains of Peru where poor nutrition, smoke inhalation, and hygiene practices cause adverse health affects, especially among children. Working with a local health post and dedicated community health agents, 25 mothers across the three communities will participate in health workshops focusing on child development, hygiene, nutrition, early childhood stimulation, and prevention of common illnesses. After completing the workshops, each participating mother will have the option to build, with technical support, a latrine to improve sanitation in her household, or an improved cookstove to impact her family’s respiratory health. Overall, the project aims to reduce malnutrition and improve sanitation conditions in the three communities.
