No Sex for Fish: Nduru
Project Launch: 3-1-17
Following the execution of a previous expansion, the No Sex for Fish initiative continues its life-changing model in Nduru where several more women are seeking to become boat owners with the ability to expand fish catching operations in nearby Lake Victoria. Disrupting the practice of jaboya, the female proprietors hope to support their families without the threat of sexual exploitation.
Final Report: 5-12-17
The boats have been constructed and fitted with motors to allow deeper penetration of the lake for fishing. Additional nets have been purchased to kick off the expansion. 33 women have benefitted from this new enterprise.
