About this Project

Project Launch: 3-9-24
With support from World Connect, the RAFALEX Association will empower rural women in Sayausí, a parish in Cuenca Canton, Ecuador, through a sustainable hydroponic greenhouse. This initiative promotes climate-smart, organic farming to enhance food production and nutrition for women and their families. Sayausí’s economy relies on agriculture and microenterprises, but rural women face exclusion, violence, and limited visibility in food security. The automated greenhouse will reduce water use, eliminate chemical fertilizers, and support fair trade, fostering economic independence. The budget will cover greenhouse construction, automation, and initial seedlings. This pilot project will strengthen women’s leadership and promote sustainable food systems in Sayausí’s 13 neighborhoods.
