About this Project

Project Launch:
San Juan de Dios is a volcano-side coffee-filled community in El Salvador. It is a poor community, but with support from the government, the area has a Rural Nutrition Center. This government-funded operation provides a safe place for children from poor homes to stay Monday through Friday and gives them enough to eat. The Center provides for the most basic and essential needs of the children of San Juan de Dios and its goal is that children maintain a healthy weight and good nutrition in their critical developing years. A $272 grant from World Connect’s Kids to Kids Program in 2011 provided supplies for a series of arts and crafts classes and lessons for the children ages 1-5 with limited exposure to arts and crafts education and other stimulating and fun activities at the Center.
