About this Project

Project Launch:
In 2010 there were no public computers in the rural town of Nueva Esperanza. This was not a mere inconvenience, but significantly limited educational progress for many students. High school students were especially affected by the lack of computers because they were expected to turn in typed assignments and do online research, but the nearest Internet cafe was an hour and a half away. With a $500 grant from World Connect’s Kids to Kids Program, six modern computers and Internet connectivity were installed at the community computer center, which now provides free, daily access computers and the Internet. All students at the elementary school are now being taught basic computer skills and classes are held for youth and other community members as well.
