About this Project

Nyarusambu Village in Mukura Sector of Huye District, is a rural community of 935 people across 198 households, where most families rely on subsistence agriculture and face poverty and limited childcare services. Due to the absence of a formal Early Childhood Development (ECD) facility, many young children are left unsupervised or under the care of older siblings, exposing them to risks of neglect, abuse, and early school dropout, particularly among vulnerable households headed by single mothers, widows, and grandmothers. Building on strong community demand, with 94% of residents supporting the initiative, thi project will establish a community-based Early Childhood Development Center (ECD) to provide safe care, early learning, nutrition support, and positive parenting services to children aged 2-6 years through trained caregivers, ensuring child protection, improved early development outcomes, and a stronger foundation for the village’s future.
