The Chiponda Village Development Committee, with support amounting to $6,162.19, is completing the construction of a modern Community-Based Childcare Center (CBCC) in Traditional Authority Msakambewa, Dowa district. Initiated in 2024, the project is now in its final phase, which includes the addition of a kitchen and toilet to ensure full functionality of the facility. The modern CBCC, designed to replace the old structure, will provide a safe and child-friendly learning environment, improve hygiene through a cement floor and sanitation facilities, and ultimately increase enrollment beyond the current 93 children while contributing to early childhood education and literacy in the community.
With a $6,162.19 additional coinvestment with Mudzi Connect, the Completion of Chigodi CBCC and Construction of Toilets project, implemented by Chiponda Village Development Committee is progressing steadily toward completion. The project aims to enhance early childhood development by improving infrastructure and sanitation facilities at the CBCC. To date, major construction activities have been completed, including the installation of a cement floor, gutters, fisher boards, painting works, and the full construction and painting of the toilet block. To fully finish the project the remaining activities include plastering and painting of the kitchen and final finishing works. With most activities completed and adequate funds remaining, the project is on track to be finalized within the planned timeline, contributing to a safer, more conducive learning environment for young children in Chiponda community.
