About this Project

Project Launch: 12-31-25

Groupe Scolaire Ruhehe, located in Gataraga Sector of Musanze District in the Northern province of Rwanda, is one of the best performing public secondary schools in the sector. It has a population of 800+ students and 34 teachers. Despite their good academic performance, the school lacks sports and recreational facilities which demotivates their students who would be interested in engaging in sports. For their students to play sports, the school has to borrow a playground at the neighbouring university which is about 30 minutes walk from the school. This limits the number of students who can walk to engage in sports at this university due to the trek. To solve this challenge, the school would like to construct their own sports facilities.

The school already has space and a $10,000 grant from World Connect Rwanda will be matched by $4,400 of their own contributions and these funds will be used to purchase construction materials and hire labour to construct a combined volleyball and basketball court for their students  which will be open to the larger community to use when students are not at school.
