In its second project, Chinkanda Village Development Committee will build a three-bedroom Health Worker house in Traditional Authority Msakambewa, Dowa district. This follows the recent construction of an under-five clinic in partnership with Mudzi Connect. The Health worker currently travels over 6 km to the clinic, delaying access to timely health care services by the community in the area. This new house will reduce travel distance and ensure timely provision of health services for the community.
The Chinkanda Health Surveillance Assistant (HSA) House project is progressing steadily, with the construction now at the roofing stage. Designed to provide a conducive living space, the house features three bedrooms, a kitchen, and a toilet, ensuring comfort and accessibility for the healthcare worker serving the community in Traditional Authority Msakambewa, Dowa district. The new house will ensure timely provision of quality healthcare services to the community. Once finished, the HSA house will represent a significant improvement in local healthcare delivery, addressing critical needs and fostering a healthier community.
With support from Mudzi Connect, Chimkanda Village Development Committee, has successfully used a coinvestment of $6,185.89 to construct a three bedroom house for a Health Surveillance Assistant in Traditional Authority Msakambewa, Dowa District. This project significantly reduces the distance health personnel used to travel to work from 7 kilometers. The structure is complete, but functionality is pending due to the incomplete kitchen and toilet areas, delayed by insufficient funding. When fully operational, the residence will enable onsite provision of a comprehensive range of under‑five services including immunizations, malaria testing and treatment, growth monitoring, prenatal and postnatal care, and family planning. These services will be accessible to approximately 1,171 community members, including 628 women and over 200 children across eight nearby villages ensuring a substantial community wide health impact.
