COVID-19: Prevention Education, Soap Production, & Masks
Project Launch: 7-23-20
Engulfed by a global pandemic and civil unrest across Burkina Faso, World Connect partner Evariste Zongo and community development committees will implement a coronavirus awareness and prevention campaign. Despite mandated restrictions, many young people still engage in agriculture, animal husbandry, and trading activities for economic purposes. This puts themselves and their families at risk. With this World Connect grant, the awareness campaign will provide accurate information to 800 youth across eight communities through youth associations and radio broadcasts while distributing masks to participants. Some youth will be included in a soap-making apprenticeship using local materials for income-generation. Lastly, the project will establish 16 handwashing stations throughout the participating communities.
