With support from World Connect’s Kids to Kids Program in 2010, the Pro-Library Committee (PLC) of Silahua, Peru was able to construct a new, sturdy, permanent, and sustainable building to house the community’s library – The Creativity and Education Center of Silahuá. The grant funds were utilized to purchase construction materials. In return, the PLC organized a community contribution of the manual labor necessary to build the library building. The new library is now a regular resource for community education, providing both kids and adults with access to computers and books. It has developed a strong partnership with the local schools, allowing teachers to utilize the library’s resources as well.
