Enhancing the Livelihoods of Zabzua Women in the Shea Industry
Project Launch: 4-23-20
In the upper East Region of Ghana, some communities have widowhood practices that include male relatives of the deceased husband inheriting the wife and shaving her head. These practices and many more make widows vulnerable, poor, and excluded. The Zabzua Widows Group built a structure to house milling equipment for their shea butter businesss. However, after the construction of the facility, they were unable to raise the needed funds to purchase the machinery required. This World Connect grant will support the women in procuring the equipment needed and train them in the skills needed to launch a successful business.
