Equal Opportunity Initiative is a project that helps rural women smallholder rural farmers irrigate their farms at no extra individual expense using modern solar-powered techniques through their local cooperative society, which will pay for a monthly subscription through dues. Equal Opportunity Initiative ensures that every female smallholder in Northeastern Nigeria secures access to an equitable source of irrigation, farming techniques, and other inputs at very subsidized costs through different cooperative societies. Although 8% of the community's population is female farmers, female farmers make up 50% or more of the total agricultural labor force. This project proposes to turn women farm workers into farmers by giving them the tools they need to succeed independently.
