Let Esperanza Read
Project Launch: 5-19-16
Students living in Esperanza, a small rural community located in Eastern Nicaragua, must travel 15km to the nearest library, putting them at a disadvantage compared to other students throughout the country who have better access to resources. This project will transform the school’s storage room into a functional library, equipped with textbooks, novels, computers and a printer. Through access to books and technology, this project aims to provide students with broader learning opportunities, preparing them for university and future employment.
Project Update: 8/6/2016
The library space has been cleaned and painted. The community has also received books in both English and Spanish. They have purchased computers, a printer, and batteries and parents have managed to raise a contribution of $200 towards the construction of the center. Work continues.
Testimonials
"This project is going to make a big difference for our community. I can already see that. The parents of students can see that. And students are beginning to see that. They keep asking me about the computers and are excited to learn how to use them." - Freddy, Project Leader
