Expansion of the Ruganda community ECD center
Project Launch: 12-22-23
In 2022, WC provided the first grant to Abesamihigo group of Ruganda village to construct and ECD center for their children. Unfortunately, the funds could only construct one classroom, a kitchen and sanitation facility hence they do not have enough space for all the children who need to study at the center.
Abesamihigo Group in Kageyo sector will use a $5,889.17 grant from World Connect to renovate Ruganda village office into an extra classroom for the ECD center. Due to shortage of classroom blocks, children are overcrowded in one room and children aged between 2-5 years old from different intakes study in the same classroom with an average of 60 children per one teacher or caregiver yet they are different in ages and ability to learn. In addition to that, this ECD also lacks classroom materials to cater towards children in early ages like teaching aids and playground equipment. The implementation of this project will provide a new classroom that will help all children in the community have access to pre-primary education at the right ages, receive nurturing care, development services, overcome child malnutrition, prevent and reverse development delays and improve child development outcomes for children with disabilities.
