The Yuturi Warmi project, supported by World Connect, empowers the Yuturi Warmi community in Ecuador by strengthening sustainable tourism and artisanal production as alternatives to mining, promoting gender equality, environmental conservation, and community resilience. The initiative focuses on completing riverside lodging facilities, developing a tourism promotion plan, and training Yuturi women in tourism and sales skills through workshops on sales techniques, customer service with intercultural scripts, and digital marketing, including product photography and social media management. By increasing women’s income through artisanal and tourism sales, the project enhances their economic role, fostering greater equity in family and community decision-making and reducing traditional gender gaps. It encourages broader participation in sustainable productive activities, motivating families to diversify the local economy away from extractive practices. Increased earnings enable mothers to invest in better nutrition, health, and education for their children, improving child development and reducing vulnerabilities.
