Project Launch: 12-31-20

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, fewer pregnant women in rural communities are seeking attended births at clinics and in many places maternal mortality has skyrocketed. The Health for Her Project will educate 100 unmarried pregnant young women on antenatal and postnatal care. In addition, they will train 20 community birth attendants on routine checks and proper care for at risk pregnancies. These 20 will train an additional 300 birth attendants in two other communities, create a hospital information campaign regarding antenatal and post natal care, and provide delivery kits to pregnant women. In Badawa, 63% of women become pregnant before the age of 18, a percentage that has increased further due to pandemic lockdowns. This project will have a significant impact on the health of girls, young women, and newborn babies in the area.
