Health Initiative for the GirlChild Initiative
Project Launch: 2-15-24
With $2177.22 this project seeks to enhance adolescent sexual and reproductive health across five local schools by implementing a comprehensive approach. This involves the integration of emergency contraceptives and sanitary pads into the school health program, with a dedicated nurse/counselor overseeing the maintenance of supplies. Additionally, a school health committee, comprising parent, teacher, and student representatives, will be established to supervise the initiative, with members selected annually. Furthermore, comprehensive sexual health education will be incorporated into mandatory health clubs through curriculum development in collaboration with teachers. To enhance peer support, a peer counseling/mentoring program will be maintained in partnership with reputable local youth organizations such as LACED Africa and KLCI, who will provide training and management for youth volunteers.
