Mpamba Community Day Secondary School (CDSS) in Nkhatabay serves 674 learners per year. With co-investment from Mudzi Connect, the school will construct a dedicated computer laboratory that will deal with absence of suitable infrastructure that has made it difficult to safely store computers, adversely affecting the delivery of digital education. The proposed project will help the school integrate digital skills into the school's curriculum. Additionally, the project will unlock 20 computers from the previous donors pending the structure completion. The number of students sitting for the Junior Certificate of Education (JCE) exam in the computer subject is expected to increase by 100% from 115 to 230 students by 2026.
Less than two months into its implementation cycle, the Mpamba CDSS Board of Governance Committee, led by Mr. Chifundo Nyirenda, has made remarkable progress in the construction of a computer laboratory at Mpamba Community Day Secondary School in Nkhatabay District. To date, the project has completed the structure’s foundation, raised walls up to roofing level, fixed door and window frames, and completed the ring beam. In preparation for the next phase, key materials such as electrical fittings, burglar bars, and iron sheets have already been procured. The second phase of construction is scheduled for completion by March 2026. The project continues to receive overwhelming support from the community. Notably, Honourable Mtambalika, the Member of Parliament for the area, has assisted with transporting construction materials, helping to offset the rising costs that might have otherwise caused logistical challenges and delayed progress. Community members have expressed strong satisfaction with the pace of implementation, reflecting high appreciation for the project and optimism that its intended objectives will be successfully achieved.
