Soap Production Business
Project Launch: 2-1-25
The Karama Soap Production Business project will be led by a group of 30 women, with intent to establish a soap-making business that provides economic opportunities and addresses local health and hygiene needs. They came to this idea for a business becuase they regularly visit and help clean the homes of elderly residents in Karama, and they also visit the sick in the hospital, both places where they see the negative impact of a lack of available and affordable soap and cleaning products. The group has elected two women to lead them in this project, and they have been contributing weekly savings to support the launch of the venture. With a grant of $4,714 from World Connect and a coinvestment of $1,920 from the community, the project will fund training, raw materials, equipment, and workspace rental. The initiative aims to produce affordable liquid and bar soaps for households, schools, and nearby institutions while creating jobs for women, improving living standards, and fostering community development. Sustainability will be ensured through reinvestment of profits, skill development, and collaboration with local organizations.
