Rural Girls Lead
Project Launch: 9-30-20
Across four high schools, 40 teachers and counselors will be trained in the Cultivating Awareness and Resilience in Education (CARE) model of supporting the unique needs of female students in their classes. Each school will set up a Girls Lead Club where girls will learn about self-esteem, life skills, and reproductive health. The aim is to motivate girls, especially teenage mothers, to complete their education. The clubs will incorporate debate and essage competitions to engage the 100 teenage mothers in the area. They will work with the parent teacher association and put on a back to school sensitization program for couples in order to build support from husbands of their wives who will return to school.
