About this Project

Project Launch: 10-15-26

Sacred Court Support is a relationship-centered, interfaith initiative that ensures immigrants attending immigration court hearings and ICE check-ins do not have to navigate these experiences alone. Trained volunteers, matched in pairs by experience and shared language, connect with each person beforehand, stay with them through proceedings that can last hours, and debrief together afterward. Volunteers are supported through weekly briefings, monthly legal office hours with immigration attorneys, and pastoral care debriefs. This grant will expand the part-time Volunteer Manager role to full-time and support trainings and community gatherings, allowing the program to train 160 new volunteers, add 15 accompaniments each month, and reach a cumulative 1,250 beneficiaries, building a more sustainable and scalable model for New York City.
