San Fernando Computer Labs
Year: 2010
Country: El Salvador
Project Status: Funded
Impact Sector: Education
Project Investment: $500.00
Project Launch:
With a $500 grant from World Connect’s Kids to Kids Program in 2010, a Peace Corps Volunteer helped modernize two rural communities in northeastern El Salvador by putting computers in the local school. Despite the fact that there are many smart, motivated, and eager to learn kids in this community, they cannot compete with their urban counterparts that have grown up in a more developed area and have used computers for their whole lives. Most of the kids that benefited from this project had never touched a computer before. The new skills that come with the expanded infrastructure are making these students more competitive and opening up doors to educational and professional opportunities that were not previously available to them.Explore other Projects
