With a $5,949.46 co-investment from Mudzi Connect, Step Up will improve access to community-based rehabilitation and assistive support for children with disabilities in Nancholi and surrounding communities, including Manase, Baluti, Greencorner and Manyowe in Blantyre. The project will provide physiotherapy services, community screening, home-based rehabilitation, and caregiver training, alongside 50 tailor-made assistive devices including adaptive seats, walking frames, standing frames, pediatric wheelchairs and lower-limb orthoses for at least 30 children with disabilities. It will also screen at least 30 additional children for disabilities and developmental delays, and train 10 community health workers in early identification, referral and basic rehabilitation support. By bringing services closer to families, the project will reduce barriers caused by distance, transport costs and limited access to specialized care, while improving children's mobility, independence, school participation and community inclusion.
