Sustainable Livelihood and Income Generation Rice Project
Project Launch: 10-1-19
Karonga Women Rice Cooperative (KAWORIC), established in 2016, has plans to launch a productive, sustainable rice business. The Sustainable Livelihood and Income Generation Rice Project will train 25 KAWORIC members in cooperative literacy and management which is key for the growth and sustenance of the cooperative. By hosting the training, the cooperative will be eligible for legal registration and certification by the Ministry of Trade, which would further strengthen their business. This project will contribute to poverty alleviation by creating jobs and increasing household income for women in the community. Participants plan to allocate their profits toward supporting girls' education.
