With a co-investment grant from Mudzi Connect, Kabenga Cooperative will procure agricultural inputs to support increased production to over 500 metric tons for maize and 300 metric tons of groundnuts in line with the available food and market demands. Additionally, through construction of a warehouse, the group will reduce post-harvest losses and increase annual income generated from crop sales. Above all, the warehouse will act as a food bank for the community, as it will open sales during the lean months of December to March providing access to food for over 2500 community members who are generally in need due to food scarcity during these months.
