Turning Tomatoes into Gold
Project Launch: 6-7-19
With the $8,783 grant from World Connect, Turning Tomatoes into Gold project seeks to improve the economic conditions of women from Dzaleka and surrounding areas by creating an enterprise for tomato production and processing. Tomato sauce, powder, and jam products will help to increase the shelf life of the tomatoes, reduce post harvest losses, and increase revenue women earn from their production. The tomatoes will be sourced from members of the Dzaleka Women’s Cooperative and from tomato farmers in the community. A total of 25 members of the cooperative and 200 farmers from surrounding communities are set to benefit from the project.
