WASH FACILITY IN L/G PRIMARY SCHOOL 1.
Project Launch: 11-22-21
Ibiade, Ogun Waterside, Ogun State is a low-income community with over 1000 households and an estimate of about 500,000 people dwelling in it. Majority of its inhabitants are living below the poverty benchmark as fishermen and local farmers. Due to the poor socioeconomic state of this community, children are left to cater for themselves, and this negatively impacts the number of children enrolled in school. In addition, schools in this community lack basic amenities like toilets, portable drinking water, or basic running water. This in turn effects the health complications that arise from poor hygiene amongst students in the local government School. Community members and local government authorities are most often concerned about the safety of children during school hours. In the past they have attempted to take measures to ensure students don't leave the building during school hours. However, these measures are limited because students cannot be stopped from going home to defecate due to the school’s lack of toilet facilities. The WASH FACILITY IN L/G PRIMARY SCHOOL project aims to create a clean and safe environment for the children that is free of pollution. This project is building and setting up a WASH system which includes building 6 modern toilets and 8 handwashing stations that will have regular flow of water. In addition, this project will also provide the proper education on WASH practices for both students and teachers.
