Women's Hen Coop in Moroni
Project Launch: 12-29-20
This women's association in Moroni, Comoros came together to brainstorm and find a way to generate income in their community. This rural community has high unemployment and limited access to infrastructure and transportation to get to larger towns and markets. The 50 women decided to launch a hen coop where they will raise and sell chickens. The grant will support the association in purchasing an incubator for the project. At present, people in the community have to walk about 8 kilometers (over an hour) to buy food and meat. This project will give people consistent and convenient access to a source of nutrition and income.
