Women's Healthy Lifestyles and Educational Workshops
Project Launch:
In 2014, twelve women started the first women’s group in the small neighborhood of San Luis de la Reina, where there are limited economic and recreational opportunities for women. This project will build upon their success and momentum by providing livelihoods trainings focused on health, business, cosmetology and cooking. Once equipped with technical and business skills, the women will be supported to start their own small businesses.
Project Update
With newly purchased fitness and beauty supplies, the women have participated in exercise and cosmetology workshops. Through zumba and yoga, the women are learning the importance of self esteem and healthy lifestyles and are beginning to discuss the role of nutrition in leading a healthy life. The women learned how to style hair and paint nails, and are interested in starting their own microbusiness to generate income to support their families. The workshops have provided the women with various opportunities to improve their health and build a marketable skill set.
