The Young Entrepreneurs project provided an opportunity for students at a rural school in Peru to apply business and marketing skills in a unique way. First, kids were taught a marketing and business course and then separated into teams. Each team designed a class logo and slogan and pitched their designs to the other groups. The winning team’s logo and slogan were put on a t-shirt that was designed and distributed to the entire school. The project also promoted youth involvement in the tourism industry and included a field trip to a local tourism site. While on site, the kids discussed possible tourist activities that could take place in their town and developed a proposal for the municipality to consider. The project is providing continuing benefits to the local community because the kids have now been trained in local tourism development.
