COVID-19: Food, Masks, Soap, and Menstrual Pads
Project Launch: 5-20-20
With this World Connect grant, Girls Should Thrive Initiative, a World Connect partner organization in Kano State, Nigeria will provide 550 households with nutritious food for up to 7 days, face masks, menstrual pads, and soap. Currently, Kano State is one of Nigeria’s hotspots for the virus, which has resulted in heightened economic challenges for many residents. Girls Should Thrive will create unique packages to meet each family’s needs, while providing guidance on how to leverage the food growing in their gardens to reach the most nutritious meals available to them. The distribution of packages will also provide an opportunity for volunteers to share factual health information about the spread and prevention of COVID-19.
