Basketball League for Kids 11-13 in Rural Costa Rica
Project Launch:
A Sports Committee that represents four small towns in Guanacaste Province is working with a local Peace Corps Volunteer to create a sustainable basketball league for kids in the area. They have the court and most of the supplies, but a grant from World Connect will allow the Peace Corps Volunteer to train and equip four local coaches, one from each town, and organize the first season with help from the Sports Committee. The second season will be planned and operated by the Sports Committee with limited support from the Peace Corps Volunteer, establishing the league as a sustainable, positive program in the lives of kids in these four communities.
