Year: 2010
Country: El Salvador
Project Status: Funded
Impact Sector: Environment
Project Investment: $499.75
Project Launch:
With the help of a $500 grant from World Connect’s Kids to Kids Program, a new Eco-Club in Canton La Cuchilla, El Salvador expanded its work in helping the community with trash collection, recycling, and maintaining a school garden and worm compost. Kids went on field trips with the Eco-Club to help clean up the community outside of their school and now, even when the club is not in session, the kids can be seen volunteering their time picking up trash and working to produce more crops in their garden. Students went on field trips to local protected areas to better understand the positive implications of protecting the environment and created recycled art to increase environmental awareness in their community. Participants now share their knowledge with other students in the classroom and with their families in their homes, demonstrating a new generation of leaders and educators on the environment in the community. The project inspired a sense of pride in the town because of the cleaner and more environmentally consciousExplore other Projects
