Kainnanko Chicken Coop project- World Connect
Project Launch:
Kainnanko is a small, rural village in southern Senegal made up of subsistence farmers. The closest weekly markets are more than seven kilometers away on sandy and/or muddy paths, making the village very food insecure, and its people dependent upon the food they produce themselves.
This project will result in the construction of four chicken coops, each housing approximately ten to fifteen chickens, increasing food security by providing a source of eggs to the villagers. Eggs provide valuable protein, among other nutrients. In addition to supplementing diets and improving nutrition, eggs can also be sold to neighboring villages, creating a potential income generating opportunity for villagers.
