Project Launch:

This project will implement a three-day health forum in Tambacounda, Senegal, that will educate both men and women on important health topics. The workshops will focus on family planning, sexual health, malaria, proper sanitation and hygiene, child and maternal health, and household economics. This project aims to provide community members with education and techniques that will enable them to lead healthier lives and promote well-being within their families and communities.

Project Update

Over three days, 26 local Red Cross Volunteers participated in health workshops, focused on W.A.S.H. principles, family planning, financial literacy, malaria prevention, HIV prevention and treatment, and child and maternal health care. The workshops were led by local health professionals and included plenty of time for discussion. The group was highly engaged during the forum and posed a number of great questions in an effort to demystify misconceptions related to health issues. The trainings were a great resource as many of the participants hope to advance their careers in the health sector.

Testimonials

"The participants will use this information to help the people in the community. They will be able to tell mothers how to care for themselves and their children. The now know when to tell mothers to take their children to the hospital and the importance of exclusive breast feeding. They will make sure that the people in their families sleep under mosquito nets." - Oumar, Project Leader

"What we talked about here is important for us and the community. We all know that these problems exist and the more we know about them the better it will be." - Keba, Project Participant
