The Kibangu Community Library is a community-run space that has provided basic education opportunities for adults and children in Kibagu and surrounding communities for more than two years. With this project, the Library will take the next step and become an engine of development for the area. The Library will be increasing its educational programming by offering a driving laws and regulations classes, an art club, kids reading & writing competitions, and sewing workshops and cooking lessons for adults. The community committee that oversees the Library will be working to increase its economic sustainability as part of this project as well, establishing a banana cultivation cooperative that will contribute funds from the sale of bananas to cover the cost of operations and enhanced programming at the Library.

Project Update:

The Campaign for Education and Economic Growth for the Kibangu Community Library has so far been a great success at expanding the library's projects and the number of people the library benefits. The daily functioning of the library has increased through the purchase of a laptop, new books, and more stationary supplies. This has allowed the library to run more efficiently and better serve the public. The Auto Club, Art Club, and Sewing Workshop have attracted regular participants who are learning new skills.
