The community of San Jose Abajo in El Salvado is home to 1,147 people and although there are many in the community who are active in sports, those who don’t play sports love watching. Not only proud parents, but the whole community, cheer on the members of the boy’s basketball and baseball teams. The problem was that there wasn’t great infrastructure or materials to support the activities. There were only two old, worn out, deflated basketballs for 20 players, the basketball court was so worn that foul lines were almost non-existent, teams had no uniforms, the players had no gloves and termites ate the wooden bats. A $500 grant from World Connect’s Kids to Kids Program helped renew the supplies and equipment so that the players could continue this central community activity.Explore other Projects
