About this Project

Project Launch:

In the rural communities of Agua Fria, Estanzuelas, Agua Caliente, Coquinka and Ocoto Seco in the Morazan province of El Salvador, one in four people are illiterate. Many families have no plans to send their children to school beyond the 6th grade because of discrimination they experience and the distance between their village and the middle school. World Connect partnered with another international NGO, Hug It Forward, to build a middle school classroom in Agua Fria from recycled bottles, which have been stuffed with trash collected in the surrounding communities. When built, this school will allow students to continue their education beyond the 6th grade, providing an inexpensive solution for constructing a much needed classroom, while teaching the children and community members about waste management.
