Expanding Recreational Opportunities in La Palma
Year: 2009
Country: Costa Rica
Project Status: Funded
Impact Sector: Education
Project Investment: $480.00
Project Launch:
La Palma de Puriscal is an agricultural community of 300 people in Costa Rica and despite the rich environment, there are limited spaces available for youth recreation. With a $500 All-Kids Award from World Connect, the community was able to combine new resources and a new physical education teacher to establish additional space and programming for a wider variety of recreational activities. The project helped unify the community -- often community members now pass by the school and participate in a quick game of ping pong or a pick-up game of basketball. This grant led to the promotion, on a community level, of exercise and helped community members see how fun it can be to engage in activities that are beneficial to everyone’s physical and emotional health.Explore other Projects
