Healthy Homes Project of Pampa Elera Alta
Project Launch:
The Healthy Homes Project of Pampa Elera Alta actually began in 2010 with the installation of improved cook stoves in many of the community's 300 households. Support from World Connect will extend the impact of the project by joining Peace Corps Volunteers and a local Women's Committee to install sanitary pit latrines in 40 households, each of which must prove that their improved cook stove is still in good working order. The Women's Committee will train the woman in charge of each household in latrine maintenance with the expectation that a well-maintained pit latrine can last 5-10 years for each family.
