Homoine Girls sewing school
Project Launch: 1-27-16
This project will lead to the construction of a space for a women-led sewing school in Hormoine, a large district in Inhambane Province, Mozambique, that will work to equip women of all ages with an income-generating skill. The sewing school will provide sewing lessons for girls and women, and business education and support to empower them to start sewing businesses in their own communities. Additionally, the sewing school will be an ongoing center for health education, focusing primarily on HIV/AIDS and malaria.
Progress Update: 4/27/16
With help from local masons, the new sewing school building is almost complete. Additionally, all the sewing machines have been purchased and classes will begin once the infrastructure is finished.
Final Report: 9/11/2016
The building has been successfully completed.
Testimonials
"I now can teach girls a trade, and then they can teach other girls. We need trades here to survive. The price of food has gone up and no one can afford to live." - Milagros, Project Leader
