Kyanguli Science Laboratory - World Connect

Year: 2014
Country: Kenya
Project Status: Funded
Impact Sector: Health
Project Investment: $8,798.00

Project Launch:

This project aims to complete the construction of a secondary school's first science laboratory in rural, Eastern Kenya. The project will focus on both building and supplying the science laboratory, which will provide new resources, such as textbooks, that will benefit the community. The Science Laboratory will offer opportunities to learn biology, chemistry and physics in a fun and hands on way, and will provide improved educational opportunities for the community’s youth and encourage careers within the scientific field.

This is World Connect’s second project in partnership with the Kyanguli Secondary School, the first being a successful greenhouse project in 2013. The school’s greenhouse currently produces tomatoes, kale, and other vegetables for students, teachers, and local families.

Project Update

Construction is moving faster than anticipated. The roof, doors and windows are complete, and the laboratory will be painted and furnished after the dry season is over.

Final Report: 9/19/2016

The laboratory has been opened and students are making use of the new space in their lessons, increasing academic enrichment and instructional efficacy in the process.
