Malangazi School Desks for Change
Project Launch: 4-22-20
Kachama Community Based Organization will facilitate the production of 20 three-seater desks to accommodate 60 out of 840 students enrolled at Malangazi Primary School. The desks will also be used by students from other schools during examinations as Malangazi is a cluster center. An increase from 12, the new desks will motivate the students to actively participate in lessons, reduce daily family expenses as they will stay clean, and contribute to improved performance at school and national level examinations.

Kachama Community Based Organization and local artisans completed the production of 23 desks for children at the Malangazi Primary School. The desks will accommodate 46 students Standard Eight students during their lessons and exams. The organization took advantage of the desk handover ceremony to raise awareness of COVID-19 prevention strategies among the 60 community members that were present. Kachama management has reported people expressing confidence in how they have managed the project. This shows the project has strengthened the local organization's capacity to lead community projects and has bolstered community trust.
