When it comes to corporate leadership, women are under-represented globally. In Africa, the gap is very wide. According to research conducted by McKinsey, only 5% of CEOs in Africa are women. This is as a result of the numerous barriers women face, beginning with cultural limitations, which prescribes certain profession and sectors for women and does not encourage ambitious aspirations. This translates into high numbers of girls out of school and out of jobs. In Nigeria, over 5.5 million girls are out of school according to the National Institute for Educational Planning and Administration, while 6.6% more women than men are unemployed.

The Next Generation Female CEO Project aims to address this gap by equipping 100 high potential young female fresh graduates and undergraduates with the skills and competencies required for corporate leadership. The 4-day intensive training will review essential skills for survival and growth in the 21st corporate world and include topics on leadership such as self-direction, decision making, strategic thinking, employability, problem-solving, effective communication, business communication, and etiquette. Participants will be taken through a practical and competency-based training driven by a specialized curriculum.

This training will be delivered by 10 female executives and founders of women-led organizations who participants will consult, gaining practical advice and insight into the corporate world and, thereby, make informed career decisions. At the training, participants will also get the opportunity to connect with like-minded women to build a strong support network for their career journeys.
