Art for the Planet, a project implemented in Dota County, Costa Rica in 2011, promoted recycling among fourth through sixth graders in six schools by showing that recycling can be fun, cultivating an increased sense of ownership over community recycling activities, increasing awareness of existing resources for recycling and establishing new ones. Students learned to make a variety of handicrafts from recycled materials such as making wallets out of milk cartons and turning other recyclable materials into art. The students learned a different perspective on trash and new uses for the litter that was previously a very prevalent part of their lives.Explore other Projects
