El Salvador Country Pride Mural
Year: 2009
Country: El Salvador
Project Status: Funded
Impact Sector: Environment
Project Investment: $500.00
Project Launch:
The students participating in “Guardianes Ambientales” (Environmental Guardians) in El Tejar, El Salvador, worked with a Peace Corps Volunteer to plan a school mural that could display their national pride about their many artisan villages, ancient ruins, art and anthropological museums, and natural protected areas. Despite this strong national pride, most community members in El Tejar have never had the opportunity to explore their country. A $500 grant from World Connect’s Kids to Kids program helped the students participating in Environmental Guardians take a series of daylong field trips to experience El Salvador´s diverse culture, history and environment. After the field trips, participating students gave presentations to their families and classmates about what they saw and learned about El Salvador on their trip. They used their newfound knowledge of their country to add to the national pride mural.Explore other Projects
