Empowering Young Women Leaders was a girls’ summer leadership camp for girls ages 10 to 13 from the communities of Buena Vista de San Carlos, Alajuela and Monto Romo, Guanacaste in Costa Rica. During a weekend camp supported with funding from World Connect’s Kids to Kids Program in 2010, the young women were empowered to become future leaders of tomorrow in their communities by learning about communication, leadership, education, and team building, and by carrying out a service learning project that focused on environmental improvement. This camp not only touched the lives of the girls, but also reached the whole community by creating a cadre of girls with greater knowledge and skills that helps them act as meaningful participants in their communities.Explore other Projects
