Special Education Wood Workers
Year: 2009
Country: Costa Rica
Project Status: Funded
Impact Sector: Education
Project Investment: $473.39
Project Launch:
A $474 grant was awarded to the special education program at the Fortuna de Bagaces High School in Costa Rica by World Connect’s Kids to Kids program in 2009 to increase the availability of wood working equipment and programming. This group of kids all have some sort of disability but participate actively in the community, and most recently demonstrated their skills in the Special Olympics. Students not only gained new woodworking skills through this project but also formed business ideas, an important skill since the region is poor and there are limited employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities.Explore other Projects
